The
greatest
and most important Commandment is:
«Love the Lord your God, with all of your heart, with all your soul,
with all of your mind. Love your neighbour
as you love yourself» (Mt 22, 37-39b). From
the wine glass of a heart rich in love goes out the fire of the charity,
that is wealth of spirit This
fire shows how much the soul is detached by herself and in love with its
Factor. Brother
that are reading, the Spirit of the light attends you, and calls
yourself to improve your walk. If
you really love you don't have to worry about nothing, of nothing you
have to be afraid, because the love is not of man but of God. If you
love you don't contest, you don't grumble, you don't suffer in
comprehensions, of nothing you disgust, but your life flows smooth as
the soap in the water. If you love, all of that you do always succeeds
to perfection. To
love means to think well of others, not to judge the next one, not to
offend him, not to give him some evil, not to hinder him in his good,
not to give him pain, not to betray him, not to insult him, not to
condemn him, not to make him enslaved of your passion, not to chat
against him, not invent calumnies, not to kill his honor, not to defame
him, not to postpone him to you, but gladly to help him, to assist him,
to defend him from the evil, to do his charity without your left knowing
what your right does (cfr. Mt 6,3). Pray
for your neighbour,
and accompany him with your help even if you have to renounce the sleep
and the rest. Divide with him your table and give him your mantle. It
is better to walk in the light that in the dark valley. It is better to
become poor to have enriched the poor men, that remain rich among the
poor men. Don't
send out house who has given you the light to be free from bothers. Who
doesn't have care of his parent he will have children that won't have
care of him. Comfort
who cries, visit the patient, made friend of the sinner and convert him.
Educate who has not had your culture, and forgive your neighbour because,
as you will have forgiven to your brothers, so you will be forgiven by
God (cfr. Mt 6, 14-15). But
how do you do to love your neighbour if you don't love God with all of
your heart, your soul, your mind, your strengths? To love God means to
be empty of yourself and to show him that you don't have particular
creature that you love more than Him. To
love him with the whole soul means to strive to avoid the sins so that
to never commit them. To
love him with all of your mind means to live in Him free from vain,
useless or dirty thoughts. To
love God with all the strengths you owe to find any thing more important
than Him and to do any sacrifice to give him all your being. You will be
then a chosen soul, almost suspended between the earth and the sky, and,
also as man living man among men, you will feel yourself different from
them because embraced by the endless love of God. Friend,
love your brothers because if you don't love your brothers you don't
love God. You have to love them as yourself: this way recommends the
most important Commandment of the charity. Pray
a lot and be always sincere. Don't leave anybody to influence you in the
evil. Sometimes
someone introduces himself as a sheep but he is a rapacious wolf. Remember
that the Lord gives one hundred for one since on this earth for what one
does for love. In
the works of spiritual reform of the various movements approved from the
Church it is had to live like soldiers of Christ and as authentic
witnesses of the Gospel. Help
in Parish for the explanation of the Catechesis is a great action of
apostolate if your Priest is glad. Visit
the sick, comfort the elderly ones, kindly those alone and abandoned,
and helping them in their necessities is a work of mercy. So
much good the laymen can do to benefit of his brothers in necessity. The
greatest work of all the works that a Religious has to do is the
observance of the Holy Votes and of his Constitutions, and the first
apostolate he has to develop
is in its community.
Strength and courage. Start working! Don't
forget the observance of the Commandments of God, because that is an
action of charity toward God the same. Friend,
if you won't love gladly God you cannot love your brothers. You cannot
say then to love your neighbour if you don't love the Lord, and if you
don't even interest yourself to know him. To
know God it is not enough to
know that He exists, that has created the world, that has come on earth
being born poor, and is dead on the cross to save us, and then he is
resuscitated; we also need to know His virtues and try to imitate them. To
know God we need also to deepen His love, to strive to understand how
much great it is His Heart, to try to understand how much He loves us
His poor creatures, how He goes toward the one from whom
he has received so many offenses, with what delicacy tightens him
to His Heart and makes him hear His paternity, and above all during the
tests, the illnesses, the various necessities. If
you beg Him and you don't
estrange yourself from Him you will realize how much good it is the
Lord. It
is Written in fact: «I give you a new Commandment: love one another; as
I have loved you, so you must
love one another» (Gv 13,34).It is loving Him that we learn to love the
neighbour. It is written that at the end of our life we will be judged
on the charity: «I was hungry and you fed me…» (Mt 25,35). See
who around you needs your suggestions, your charity, a word of comfort,
of light, of encouragement, a piece of bread, a suit, a recommendation
to find a place of job, a help to pay a debt, to reunite a separated
family, to be like a father to an orphan that cries, etc. So
many can be the works of charity, that, both from your house and from
the convent, you can effect. Live with Christ and work with Him. If you
will have faith you will also operate the charity. «Jesus,
make us bright torches in your Church, because what you have done we can
be able to start also us. You are dead to leave us Your place. Turn
us into You Lord and do what, for Your mean, we can realize in our
brothers what You realize in us. Our life is a continuous miracle of
Your Love». Charity
is a theological virtue gone out from the Heart of Christ Who comes to
us through the faith and the hope to be poured again in the brothers
through humility. We
need to act to the light of God and to know how to forget what it is
regretful. We don't have to give the leftovers but the better fruit of
one’s own life. God gives all himself to the man, and man has to do as
many with God. One
tries more joy to give whether to receive, because in giving it is God
that operates, while receiving is human work. It
is easy for a rich to give the superfluous of
his substances to the others, but it is also easy for a poor man, so
many times, to renounce to a piece of bread or to a pair of shoes to
give it to another. It is instead more difficult to renounce to his own
wish. In
my meetings with the Lord I have been able to understand that God is
ready to forgive every sin to the reformed sinner, while he finds it
hard to forgive to the superb one, because the superb one even if he
asks forgiveness he is not really reformed. To the proud person it
weighs to humble himself, easily he exculpates, and so doing humiliates
God his absolute Master. It
is written that charity covers a big mass of sins (cfr. Love
is a fire that sets on fire and burns the ashes of the sin, captures God
and gradually introduces him in the spirit of the man so that his word
becomes powerful conqueror of souls. The
envy of other people's grace is lack of charity toward their brothers. Charity
always wins and overcomes everything. This way made the Heart of Christ
toward His malefactors. We
have to forgive and to forget the offenses received, and above all the
hypocrisies and the revenges, because charity is communion with Christ
and with his brothers. Do
we beg the Lord who may free us from the awful sin of the arrogance,
because otherwise we will make the end of The
superb man never has peace. It is as a hot tempered dog that wanders
howling for the world looking for a prey to devour. «I
am Christian: God sees me and God knows me, but this doesn't have to be
enough for me. My
behavior must have to be so that who is next to me hasn’t to
scandalize himself, but he may know and find in me God, because
otherwise, which kind of apostle am I? If
I am not enough for myself, how can I serve the others? If we have need
one of the other, why don't I want to depend on the others? Why
do I want to be superior to the others? Why to defend myself have I to
criticize the others? Why, to appear me good, pious, intelligent,
correct, do I babble and do I spread lies on my brothers? Why am I
jealous of whom is better than me? Why am I envious of the love that
reigns among two people?». It
is written in the Gospel: «You
will love the next one as yourself» (Mt 22,39).
