At the crying of a newborn arises the trumpet blast: “a still unknown call which gradually will be clearer and later more distinct”.

It is not destiny, but the pure knowledge of Whom Who called you to life; who sees and knows what you will be able to do and what you really do; whom you received without knowing of receiving, even though you realise your mistakes, your fights between the good and the evil.

The bell of the eternal Knowledge gave you a vocation to be followed, with all the skills necessary to perform it, even though it makes you free to look after others you will undergo since your childhood. It is a sure thing that a vocation is innate in you from the instant of your conception: a vocation that, if performed, will bring you to salvation, and perhaps to holiness.

From the gloom of your mother’s womb to the dawn of your first day, when you opened your eyes to life and began to distinguish the sun from the night, you felt an energy which moved you hereafter your little being which was still unable to think and decide.

This energy is met in this world, however it does not belong to it. It is a strength that, little by little, shows you more and more clear, and while taking your first steps, you feel that it leads you, instructs you about where and how it is better to walk.

Wandering with your eyes, half-open to knowledge, as if they are transported by the same strength, you go searching after it, looking at the sky and the earth, the little viola hidden in the grass, the little daisy, the running toy train, the doll you hardly grip in your hands, the flying little bird, the goslings flapping their wings in the rill, the little boy, older than you but like you, still unaware of the immensity around us, which embraces everything, everyone and attempts to keep everything united, in order that nothing could scatter. The more the time passes, the more you feel yourself as if you are involved by something that exists but you still ignore.

You start stammering your first words, and than, perhaps the Mum or the Energy itself makes you understand that this is a power grater than all the men in the world, and grater than the world itself. She tells you, without knowing it, that it is it that gave your life to the light. Then you want to know It, not in gloom, but in the clearness of the thought, which thought itself is a Lord’s gift.

You grow up, and lucky you if you have encountered one who opened your eyes and heart and made you realise that this wondrous being is God.

Vocation means call; a call to do something in one’s life; to be helpful for someone; to grow up in knowing God, learning to love and serve Him.

This call which captured you since your conception and made you perceive it during all the most relevant moments of your inner and outside evolution, comes from Him who, more than everyone, has loved you from the eternity; He has been searching for you even to enter you. Be consoled, for you are His son in whatever state you are. Whatever religion you have been entered, do not forget that you are always God’s son, and if you have not still received the Sacrament of Baptism go to a catholic priest and make you baptised by him as God’s Son did by John the Baptist in Jordan’s waters.

It is not pride that makes the way for a vocation, but this God’s Love, which leads you into an immense space, to the right path, even though He lets you choose others: that of perdition as well.

Vocation is therefore the call for Love’s way. It is only one the path of Love, with different skills. It is written, indeed: “In my Father’s house are many mansions” (Jn 14,2).

God is an eternal Father who wanted to manifest Himself to His sons, in this poor earth; have an identity, a tutor and a mother; take, therefore, a flesh like us poor men; be born in poverty to give man an example of life, and makes him understand that it is not richness that gifts the joy and brings to eternal salvation, but for Him, even the death on the cross, the personal immolation of Himself. “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me” (Jn 12,32). Moreover: I must depart now but I will send you the Holy Spirit (cfr. Jn 16,7). Here is the first Founder: Jesus the Saviour, who founded the Church, One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic.

Through the mouth of the pure of heart, the Holy Spirit leads and helps one to answer this personal, deep call which the person feels to be written in the bottom of his heart and which, sometimes, the more he tries to eject, the more events go in a way that he feels to be just merged in it.

If Love’s path is only one, how can it be said that vocations bringing to salvation and sanctity are different? The weapon for salvation is not the place but the way in which one lives.

There is the cluster, that is the total retirement from the world, the vanities of the life; but if one does not live the Votes engaged with God and does not observe the Constitutions of that Spirituality, it is vane to live closed in a cluster. Even though one chooses to live in a religious congregation in contact with the sick, the poor, the old, the children, the demented, with the prisoners, in mission and in many other places, he must attend to observe the Holy Votes and Holy Constitutions.

If you only think of yourself, about making a career to become superior in a community, to be somebody; or if you appropriate the same community’s goods aiming to abandon the cluster and getting rich in the world, your consecration to the Lord will be a making a full of someone behaviour, a double-face action.

In one’s consecration to the Lord there must not be second aims, for He, who sees everything, can stop his path towards Love. Then, he will curve over himself, discouraged by the life.

Who chooses the last place will be given the first (cfr. Lc 14,10).

Also as free persons in the world, souls can be privately devoted to the Lord, in service of the brothers, in obedience to the spiritual father, for it is not the place that makes one a saint but the personal oblation, the radical detach and total renounce.

Also those who are called to marriage walk along the same path of Love, if it is pure, full, if it has the rightful intention of giving Lord a generation of sons well instructed according to his Low.

For certain, a particular call is that for the priesthood: “He said to him, yet renounce thou things; sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and come, follow me” (Lc 18,22)

A priest must be a souls’ teacher; however if he has nothing he cannot give anything as well. If the priest does not pay attention in becoming a saint performing himself in virtues, rather than being an exemplary teacher for the souls he will become a trader of his mistakes.

It is everyone’s duty to pray for those who are called to be Lord’s elect. Another task is not to prevent elect from answering God’s Will: “For many are called, but few are chosen” (Mt 22,14).

But whose fault is it? Let’s do our conscience’s examination!

If you feel you are called to work in the world as a person linked to Christ as a layman, to be better in contact with brothers, contact us: this is our mission. Who wants to live our vocation lives the contemplation in a apostolic activity: “Talking with Christ and in silence, listening to Him to communicate God’s Will to the approaching brothers”.
